JOSEPH A. QUINLAN JR.
 
Joe Quinlan has spent more than 40 years in intercollegiate athletics, higher education, sports and entertainment during his career.
 
Quinlan served as Senior Associate Athletics Director for Internal Operations, and sports program administrator for the football, men's basketball and women's basketball teams, at Columbia University and participated on numerous Ivy League sport committees.
 
He also managed the intercollegiate athletics program at Saint Peter's University, where he led the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Committee on Athletics Administration, MAAC Cross Country Committee and served on the NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Committee.
 
Prior to his arrival in Jersey City, Quinlan worked as the Director of Athletics and Recreational Services at Seton Hall University. During this time, the men’s basketball program moved from the Meadowlands to the Prudential Center, where Seton Hall served as the host institution for the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship East Regional. Additionally, Quinlan managed multiple fundraising and capital projects for the athletics and recreation programs.
 
 
 
Quinlan worked as Deputy Director of Athletics and Senior Associate Athletics Director at Rutgers University where he managed day-to-day operations for the Scarlet Knights before leaving for Seton Hall. Active in Big East Conference operations, he also served on the BIG EAST Championships and Competition Committee, the major policy committee.
 
Quinlan directed the Meadowlands Organizing Committee efforts for the 1996 NCAA Final Four, where he worked with the host institution, Rutgers University, the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship staff, multiple governmental agencies and hospitality providers for the last Final Four held in a conventional size arena.
 
Following Seton Hall's appearance in the 1989 NCAA Championship Game, Quinlan joined the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s Men’s Basketball Championship staff, where he served as a tournament site representative, managed tournament preparations and assisted in future tournament site survey and selection.
 
He has also held administrative positions at D’Youville College, Loyola College, St. Bonaventure University and Caldwell University.
 
Quinlan has worked within the Montclair community with the Mercier Sportsmen of the Year Beefsteak Dinner Committee and the Montclair 100, both of which support local charities. He is a parishioner at St. Cassian Church.
 
Quinlan is married to the former Noreen McGowan, a retired Pediatric Oncology Nurse Practitioner.  The Quinlans have one daughter, Tess, who is married to Cameron Kim.
